El Campesino
Best Mexican in the area.
El Campesino is the kind of Mexican restaurant you can visit week after week (or day after day, if you're really nuts about Mexican) and still be a fan. Though we've eaten a couple dozen meals there, I look forward to it every time.
Lunch and dinner are usually well attended by average families and office workers. The restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere. There's plenty of space so there's always a table for you... but that space is spread among different areas so you're not bombarded by the noise of one big dining room. Except for the back room - which is larger and works well for group gatherings - many of the booths feel nicely tucked away.
The menu is pretty varied, with the standard Mexican dishes done well and some specialities for variety (the Chori Pollo is one of the best Mexican dishes I've ever had), plus reasonable prices all around. I can't speak for the desserts but they're an afterthought at a Mexican place anyway.
The service is consistently solid: you'll be taken care of quickly without a lot of fuss, though they'll be happy to take time to recommend options to you or help you with your Spanish (mastery of English is varied from server to server) if you wish.
The bottom line: El Campesino is a great all-around Mexican experience.
Fun and enjoyable dining. Your host and hostess are a young couple who are truely interested in making your dinning experience with them special. Food is well prepared and service is given with a smile, as you return for future meals you will be expected to learn a little Mexicna. It's cute, fun and the food is excellent.
